This registration policy applies to all colours of Balinese which are recognised by GCCF at present. It shall also apply to any other colours of Balinese which may be produced by a combination of the colour genes already accepted in Balinese or Siamese. Balinese are recognized with the following colours in either Self or Tabby points: Seal (n), Blue (a), Chocolate (b), Lilac (c), Red (d), Cream (e), Apricot (e 121), Caramel (a/c/p 121), Cinnamon (o), Fawn (p), Seal Tortie (f), Blue Tortie (g), Chocolate Tortie (h), Lilac Tortie (j), Caramel Tortie (g/j/r 121), Cinnamon Tortie (q), Fawn Tortie (r)
I. BREEDS ACCEPTABLE IN THE PEDIGREE OF BALINESE:

- BALINESE
- BALINESE VARIANTS
- SIAMESE of the recognized Balinese colours in Self or Tabby points.

- ORIENTAL SHORTHAIRS
of the recognized Balinese colours in any pattern other than smoke.
- ORIENTAL LONGHAIRS
of the recognized Balinese colours in any pattern (including pointed) other than smoke.
- ORIENTAL LONGHAIR VARIANTS
of the recognized Balinese colours in any pattern (including pointed) other than smoke.
- FOREIGN WHITES
WHITE ORIENTAL LONGHAIRS and ORIENTAL LONGHAIR VARIANTS as ancestors of any Oriental Longhair or Oriental Longhair Variant in group B.
A BALINESE may only be produced from a mating where each parent is either Longhair or Longhair carrier (i.e Balinese, Balinese Variant, Oriental Longhair or Oriental Longhair Variant).
A BALINESE VARIANT may only be produced from a mating where one parent is either Longhair or Longhair carrier. (NB unless one parent is a Longhair, not all kittens from the mating will carry longhair).
II. REGISTRATION POLICY
1. FULL REGISTER
Balinese with Full or Provisional recognition which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations only cats of breeds listed in group A above shall be registered on the FULL REGISTER.
2. SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER - I
Balinese with Full or Provisional recognition which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations only cats of breeds given in groups A, B and C above shall be registered on the SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER.
3. SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER - II: BALINESE VARIANTS
Shorthaired cats of Siamese appearance which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations only cats of breeds given in groups A, B and C above shall be registered on the SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER as Balinese Variants.
5. REFERENCE REGISTER - I
Balinese or Balinese Variants of unrecognised colours which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations only cats of breeds given in groups A, B and C above shall be registered as Balinese or Balinese Variants on the REFERENCE REGISTER.
6. REFERENCE REGISTER - II
All cats of Balinese appearance which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations any breeds other than those given in groups A, B and C above shall be registered on the REFERENCE REGISTER as “x-colour point of Balinese type”.
NOTE: All Red Point, Cream or Apricot Point Balinese or Balinese Variants with one or more Tabby or Shaded parents must be registered as Red, Cream or Apricot Tabby Points until proved otherwise.
In the case of cats imported onto the GCCF register, no cat with a Tabby or Shaded within five generations may be registered as a Red, Cream or Apricot Point unless either
a. the cat has been proved by genetic testing to be non-agouti, or
b. there is a non-red, non-agouti cat breaking the line descending from the Tabby Point, or
c. a Red, Cream or Apricot Point in the line descended from the Tabby Point has been proved by gentic testing or test matings to be non-agouti. For more details about the breed see:
